Boynton Beach City Commission
The City of Boynton Beach operates under a Commission-Manager form of government. Residents elect a Mayor-at-Large and four City Commissioners, each representing one of the city's four districts. The elected officials establish city policies, adopt local legislation, approve the city budget, set taxes and fees, appoint board and committee members, hire the City Attorney, and hire and evaluate the City Manager, who oversees the day-to-day operations of the city.
How City Commissioners Are Elected
Boynton Beach voters elect the Mayor and Commissioners through municipal elections. The Mayor is elected citywide, while Commissioners are elected by voters within their respective districts. According to the City of Boynton Beach, elected officials currently serve three-year terms and are limited to two consecutive terms.
The City's election information indicates that future municipal elections are held for specific commission seats on a rotating basis. For example, the 2028 municipal election includes the offices of Mayor-at-Large, Commissioner for District I, and Commissioner for District III.

Rebecca Shelton, Mayor
Elected citywide as Mayor-at-Large, Rebecca Shelton serves as the presiding officer of the City Commission. Her current term runs from March 2025 through March 2028.
Angela Cruz, Commissioner, District I
Angela Cruz represents District I on the City Commission. Her current term runs from March 2025 through March 2028.
Mack McCray, Commissioner, District II
Mack McCray represents District II. His current term runs from March 2026 through March 2029.
Thomas Turkin, Vice Mayor and Commissioner, District III
Thomas Turkin represents District III and serves as Vice Mayor. His current term runs from March 2025 through March 2028.
Aimee Kelley, Commissioner, District IV
Aimee Kelley represents District IV. Her current term runs from March 2026 through March 2029.
The City Manager and City Attorney
In Boynton Beach's Commission-Manager form of government, the City Commission establishes policies and the overall direction of the city, while the City Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of municipal government. The City Manager is hired and evaluated by the City Commission and works with city departments to implement the policies and priorities established by the elected officials.
As of 2026, Daniel Dugger serves as the City Manager for the City of Boynton Beach. He is responsible for the administration of city services and the management of municipal operations.
The City Attorney serves as the chief legal advisor to the City Commission, City Manager, and various city departments. The City Attorney provides legal guidance on municipal laws, ordinances, contracts, and government procedures to help ensure that city actions comply with applicable laws and regulations. The Boynton Beach City Commission is responsible for hiring the City Attorney.
As of 2026, Shawna Lamb, Esq. serves as the City Attorney for the City of Boynton Beach.
